Who’s Going To Win The Super Bowl? 4 Value Bets After Week One
There are always a lot of unknowns heading into the first week of an NFL season. The beauty of week one is that it clears up some of these unknowns. So now that we have a better idea of the true contenders, let’s take a look at the Super Bowl betting market to see which teams have the best chance of lifting the Lombardi Trophy in February.
Buffalo Bills @ 9/2
The Buffalo Bills go into week 2 of the NFL season as the clear favourites to win this season’s Super Bowl. It’s easy to see why as they are one of the most complete teams in the NFL, with a talented roster on both sides of the ball.
Josh Allen has shown flashes of greatness over the past couple of seasons. The opening game against the Rams saw him prove once again why he is considered one of the best in the league. On offence, Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis are the team’s top two receiving threats. Diggs and Davis ran riot against the Rams. We can expect to see more of that throughout the season as the Bills prolific passing game will be a handful for any opponent.
On defence, this line has enough talent to stuff the run and force a lot of turnovers. The Bills defence is led by star pass rusher Von Miller. The addition of Miller, who is coming off a season where he had 13.5 sacks including 2 in the Super Bowl will only improve a defence that allowed the fewest yards per play (4.8) in the NFL last season.
This Bills team have all the makings of a Super Bowl champion. Elite QB? Check. Talented receivers? Check. Dominant defensive front? Check. If this team can stay healthy then odds of 9/2 look very appealing.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7/1 Boosted to 8/1 at BoyleSports
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a great chance of winning the Super Bowl this season in what is a weak NFC.
The Bucs opened their account for the season with a convincing 19-3 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Tom Brady looked as good as ever as he picked the Cowboys apart with a surgical passing display. The addition of Julio Jones is a massive boost to this receiver group and will make it almost impossible for defences to guard all of the Buccaneers’ receivers. Elite wide receiver Mike Evans also looks to be back healthy and at his best as he caught the lone touchdown in Sunday’s game.
The offensive line is still a concern for this team, and they were dealt a further blow when left tackle Donovan Smith went down with an injury in the season opener. Luckily, Smith’s injury isn’t as bad as was initially feared and he could be in contention to be back in the lineup for week two.
On defence, this unit can really get after the quarterback with Shaq Barrett who is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL while defensive tackles Vita Vea and Akiem Hicks can stuff the run. Tampa Bay also have a talented secondary with Carlton Davis leading one of the best cornerback groups in the league.
This team, with Tom Brady at quarterback and talented receivers, looks like a good investment to win the Lombardi Trophy at 8/1.
San Francisco 49ers @ 20/1
The 49ers got off to a terrible start to the season with a 19-10 loss to the Chicago Bears. However, it is impossible to take anything from that game as it was played in monsoon-like conditions. The torrential rain made it impossible for both teams to play their best football and the end result can be put down to randomness more than the 49ers being a bad team. The San Francisco 49ers will be a force to be reckoned with this season as they have all the pieces in place to make a run at the Super Bowl.
The 49ers will look to rebound from their season-opening loss to the Chicago Bears when they take on the Seattle Seahawks in week two in a game they are favoured to win by 9.5 points. The Seahawks are coming into the game on short rest after an emotional win over the Russell Wilson-led Broncos on Monday night. The Seahawks defence is very suspect, and the 49ers should be able to put up a lot of points against them.
Quarterback Trey Lance is a great athlete with a strong arm. Lance’s ability to run with the ball adds an element to this offence that they didn’t have before. Lance has a dynamic receiver in Deebo Samuel who can make plays all over the field. The defence is also a good unit with elite pass rusher Nick Bosa leading the way. Bosa and this talented quality defensive line can put pressure on opposing QBs and force turnovers.
The 49ers are primed to remind everyone why they’re one of the best teams in the league on Sunday against Seattle. My advice is to take the 49ers current Super Bowl odds of 20/1 before they put on a show against the Seahawks and have their odds slashed.
Philadelphia Eagles @ 16/1
The Philadelphia Eagles have a real shot at winning the Super Bowl this season. The Eagles have a lot of talented players on both offence and defence, making them a strong team overall.
The Eagles got off to a fast start against the Detroit Lions in week one in a game where they scored 38 points. This high-scoring performance confirmed how potent this offence can be. The defence conceding 35 points is cause for concern however and will need to improve if they are to make a Super Bowl run.
Jalen Hurts is an exciting young quarterback who is athletic and can make all the throws required of him in this offence. He proved himself to be a playmaker in his short career so far. Hurts can make things happen with his feet when defences take away his receiving options.
A.J. Brown was a massive offseason addition who can really improve this offence. Brown and the team’s number two receiver Devonta Smith will be very difficult for opposing defences to cover. Brown is a big and physical receiver who can make plays down the field and be the true number one receiver that this offence has been missing. Smith is a speedy receiver who can get open and make plays all over the field.
This offence has an incredible amount of firepower and can put up points in a hurry. The defence does need to improve but there is enough talent there to be optimistic that they can become solid on that side of the ball. The 16/1 odds on the Eagles winning the Super Bowl look tempting given their talent and the NFC being weak this year.
So those are the best value bets at this stage of the NFL season. Week one in the league was an absolute cracker and there’s sure to be plenty more drama for us to look forward to in the coming weeks.
Remember to always gamble responsibly.
